The Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR) —the world's second-largest wildlife reserve—offers raw, remote desert wilderness with ancient fossil valleys, vast pans, and golden dunes. Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to Deception Valley
Drive from Maun (~6-8 hours) to Matswere Gate; enter CKGR. Head to Deception Valley (~1-2 hours from gate); game drive en route. Afternoon exploration: Drive the valley floor for springbok/gemsbok herds on sweet grasses. Overnight at Deception Pan or Kori Campsite (private, basic ablutions)

Days 2-3: Full Exploration of Deception Valley
Dawn and dusk game drives along fossil riverbeds and pans: Track black-maned lion prides (famous here), cheetahs on open plains, and hyenas. Relaxed midday at camp; waterhole viewing for close action. Look for red grass patches (unique to Deception) and kori bustards. Campfire evenings with roars echoing across the valley

Day 4: Transfer to Sunday Pan & Exploration
Morning drive north (~2-3 hours from Deception, game viewing en route). Arrive Sunday Pan: Scenic loops around the pan and waterhole—excellent for oryx, wildebeest, and predator opportunities. Afternoon/dusk drive: Spot breeding birds, bat-eared foxes, and herds gathering at water. Overnight at Sunday Pan Campsite (private, scenic, basic facilities).

Day 5: Morning Activity & Departure
Final dawn drive around Sunday Pan for last sightings. Return south via Deception Valley; exit Matswere Gate. Drive to Maun or onward (arrive afternoon).
